Zuclopenthixol

Compatible

Safe substance and/or breastfeeding is the best option.

It is a typical, first generation antipsychotic, with general properties similar to those of chlorpromazine,  that is used for the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychoses. Daily oral administration or intramuscular depot every several days or weeks

It is excreted in breast milk in clinically insignificant amounts (Matheson 1988, Aaes 1986) and no problems have been observed in an infant whose mother was taking it. (Aaes 1986)

Expert authors consider the use of this medication possible during breastfeeding. (Uguz 2021, Klinger 2013)

Until more published data is known about this drug in relation to breastfeeding, known safer alternatives may be preferable, especially during the neonatal period and in the event of prematurity.

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
