Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
Your contribution is essential for this service to continue to exist. We need the generosity of people like you who believe in the benefits of breastfeeding.
Thank you for helping to protect and promote breastfeeding.

Rosiglitazone is a thiazolidinedione used in conjunction with diet and exercise to normalise blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is administered orally as one or two daily doses.
At the time of the last update, we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.
Its pharmacokinetic data (very high percentage of plasma protein binding and large volume of distribution) make passage into breast milk in clinically significant quantities very unlikely.
Pending further published data on this drug in relation to lactation, safer known alternatives may be preferable, especially during the neonatal period and in case of prematurity.
There is inadequate evidence of the carcinogenic potential of rosiglitiazone. IARC 2016, p.373)
Thiazolidinediones increase insulin sensitivity. Oral antidiabetics are not helpful in type 1 diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, diet, exercise and breastfeeding will improve blood glucose levels.
