Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
Your contribution is essential for this service to continue to exist. We need the generosity of people like you who believe in the benefits of breastfeeding.
Thank you for helping to protect and promote breastfeeding.

Resorcinol is an isomer of benzenediol. It is used as a topical keratolytic, antiseptic and disinfectant for skin disorders and infections such as acne, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, corns, calluses and warts, and in inflammations of the mouth. It is slightly irritating.
At the time of the last update, we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.
The small dose and low plasma absorption of most topical dermatological preparations make the passage of significant amounts into breast milk very unlikely. Only 1.6% of resorcinol passes into plasma through the skin. (Yeung 1983)
Do not apply on the breast to prevent infant ingestion; otherwise, wash it off thoroughly with water before the next breast feed.
May have a disruptive effect on the thyroid. (Pasquier 2023)
