Polysaccharide with a very high molecular weight which is a component of connective tissue of the organism. It is made up of a polymer of more than 20,000 chained disaccharides of D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. As a lubricant, it is a major component of the synovial fluid of the joints, humor vitreo and subcutaneous tissue. It is used as a topical preparation in the eye, skin and wounds and for infiltrations in the eyes and joints for lubricating, healing, cosmetic and surgical purposes.
At latest update no published data on excretion into breast milk were found.
With a high molecular weight, excretion into breast milk seems unlikely.
Because of a null oral bioavailabilityl (Maccari 2016), the absorption to the infant's plasma from ingested breast milk is greatly impeded.
In addition, it is a natural component of the human body that is also found in breast milk (Maccari 2016, Hill 2013)
We do not have alternatives for Hylan B; Hylan G-F 20 since it is relatively safe.
