酢酸シプロテロン

Likely Compatibility

Fairly safe. Mild or unlikely adverse effects. Compatible under certain circumstances. Follow-up recommended. Read Commentary.

Progestogen with antiandrogenic properties used in the treatment of hypersexuality, prostate cancer, transsexuality (transsexual women) and, together with ethinylestradiol, in hirsutism, acne and hyperandrogenism, polycystic ovary syndrome and alopecia in women.

At a daily dose of 50 mg, it is excreted in breast milk in very small amounts: RID < 1% (Stoppelli 1980), and no antiandrogenic effects have been reported in infants.

The small amount (2 mg) found in contraceptive tablets in which it is combined with ethinylestradiol or estradiol would have a very low risk and would be compatible with breastfeeding.

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
