Buflomedil Hydrochloride

Limited compatibility

Unsafe. Moderate/severe adverse effects. Compatible under certain circumstances. Follow-up recommended. Use safer alternative or discontinue breastfeeding from 5 to 7 T ½ . Read Commentary.

Vasodilator used in peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders. Oral, intramuscular or intravenous administration.

At the date of the last update, there was no published data available on its excretion in human milk.

Product considered of low therapeutic utility. (UTB 2001)

Due to its serious neurological and cardiovascular side effects, its commercialization in Europe was suspended. (EMA 2012)

Alternatives

  • Pentoxifylline (Safe product and/or breastfeeding is the best option.)
