Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)

Compatible

Safe product and/or breastfeeding is the best option.

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is an endogenous adenine nucleotide present in all cells of the body. It is a vasodilator that has been used in cerebral and peripheral vascular disorders and also in the treatment of supraventricular tachycardias (adenosine is preferred). Intravenous administration.

Since the last update we have not found published data on its excretion in breastmilk.

It is rapidly metabolized to adenosine diphosphate (ADP). Its plasma half-life is so short (< 10 seconds) that it is highly unlikely that any of the drug will pass into breast milk. (Hale, Briggs 2015, Tan 2001)

Furthermore, its null oral bioavailability prevents the passage to the infant's plasma from ingested breast milk.

There is no evidence for the efficacy of PTA for other indications such as low back pain. (Bannwarth 2005)

Alternatives

We do not have alternatives for Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) since it is relatively safe.

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
