ACUTE
GASTROENTERITIS DIET
For the next ____ hours give only the following
SOLUTION: 1 sachet SUERORAL dissolved in 1 litre mineral (bottled) water, in
small doses but frequently, approximately ____
cc. (millilitres) hourly. If baby refuses SUERORAL solution substitute
for: water, rice water or ISOTONAR: 1 sachet for 250 cc. water.
For the next 5 or 6 days the following foods may be
given:
Boiled RICE, semolina or rice purée (pharmacy).
Boiled and puréed CARROTS.
Boiled CHICKEN, WHITE FISH or HAM may be added
according to the child's age.
Puréed ripe APPLES and BANANAS.
Yoghurt only if tolerated.
Give water or above solution often.
Give no medicine.
DO NOT GIVE (except above mentioned): milk or its
derivates, sweets, other fruits or juices, vegetables until diarrhea abates.
Little by little normal food may be resumed.
If there is no improvement with this diet consult your
paediatrician.
